Helen Bernstein High School recently completed its WASC visit, and we extend our deepest appreciation to the members of our Visiting Committee for their professionalism, thoughtful feedback, and genuine commitment to supporting continuous school improvement. Their time with us was marked by rich dialogue, authentic engagement with staff, students and parents, and an evident desire to understand our school’s culture, strengths, and aspirations.
Throughout the visit, the committee highlighted numerous areas where Bernstein continues to excel. These included our strong and consistent leadership presence, data‑informed decision‑making, the positive and collaborative relationships among staff, and the meaningful support systems available to students—ranging from the Parent Center to the Dream Center and Bernstein Closet. Additional areas of commendation included the strength of our Magnet and INA programs, student-centered instructional practices, and the integration of technology across classrooms.
The Visiting Committee also shared thoughtful and constructive recommendations that will help guide our next steps as we pursue even higher levels of achievement and alignment with our vision. Among these areas of focus were the continued refinement of our mission and vision, expanding industry engagement for all students, increasing cross-department collaboration, strengthening scaffolds for rigor, and reinforcing literacy practices across all subject areas. Their insights affirm our school’s commitment to growth and reflect the hard work of our entire community.
