Who qualifies to enroll at Bernstein High School International Newcomer Academy?
Per the California Department of Education, an International Newcomer Student is a foreign-born English Learner enrolled in U.S. schools for 3 years or less.
If you live outside of our attendance area and would like to enroll in our program, please visit Apply.lausd.net to submit an application.
If you live in our attendance area, please visit the school to pick up an enrollment packet.
Academy Vision and Mission
Internationals Academy Graduates will have the advanced linguistic, academic, and socio-cultural proficiencies necessary to:
- Navigate the education system in this country. (College, Trade Schools, etc.)
- Understand diverse communities.
- Be lifelong learners
- Tackle rigorous, standards-based, and real world learning opportunities for all students.
- Be college and/or career readiness upon graduation.
- Be responsible members of our society.
- Advocate for their own learning
- Prepare students for community engagement and contribution after high school graduation
- Develop effective communication and advocacy skills
- Master academic, technological, and vocational skills
