Biography of Steven Dimich - Social Studies Teacher

Hi, my name is Steven Dimich and I am the social studies teacher at Helen Bernstein High School Cinematic Arts and Creative Technologies Magnet. I teach 10th grade World History, 11th grade United States History, and 12th grade Government/Economics.

 

I graduated from the University of Southern California in 2011 and received my teaching credential from Cal State Los Angeles in 2019. I have been teaching for over 5 years in Los Angeles. I was born in Los Angeles, California. I am currently married with one son who is now in the second grade. My interests include film, photography, and traveling.

 

In my classroom, I emphasize the importance of learning about the past so we can understand our current place in history. In my classroom, students will learn skills to get them academically ready for college and their future careers. Some of the tasks we complete in my classroom are document analysis assignments, where students are encouraged to think critically about primary/secondary sources from the past. I also emphasize collaborative projects in my class, where students work together complete a project about the current academic unit we are working on.
